"jerry's best stuff is with the dead"? Well, if you don't mind sitting through another MAMU and LLR, I guess that might be true, but for anyone that ever saw JGB in a club, they can assure you it that it easily matched, and on many nights, surpassed anything put out by the boys. Apples and oranges. Hell, I know I still treasure those Lunt-Fontane shows and they easily match any GD show I saw for pure joy and great music.

I believe ya BD, Im sure I would say the same had I seen both, but for me the experience isn't necessarily what matters, Im an arm chair dead head and what happened at the show and how much everyone liked it, doesnt come through and hence, to me, is totally negligible and my opinion is based solely on, how does it sound?

And yes I would gladly sit through another MAMU and LLR.

Well, I'm a big R&B, Stax Soul, Funk fan and that element is largely missing from the GD experience while it was central to JGB. I also agree with what high flow said about the dylan tunes. Look, I loved both (GD and JGB), and I would not have gotten into JGB without going to a ton of GD shows, but there are times when I really prefer a Catfish John over another Morning Dew (blasphemy?). Also, a large part of my love for JGB probably stems from being able to see him in nightclubs and small theatres while the boys were transitioning into stadiums and getting locked out of cities. The communal, family vibe was a lot more prevalent/tangible at those mid to late 80 Jerry shows for me. I know that's touchy, feely, but it is what it is.
